Coffee Cup Cupcakes

Coffee Cup Cupcakes

You will need:

  • Coffee cups rinsed and dried from any previous use
  • Newspaper or brown kraft paper (amazon packing paper)
  • One sheet of paper towel
  • Tape
  • Paint, fabric scraps, packaging to decorate
  • Glue
  1. Ball up a section of newsprint or packing paper to forma ball approx 2.5" x 2.5" - to fit nicely as a "muffin top" to your cupcake. Tape the ball to secure it's form.
  2. Cover the ball of paper with a paper towel or tissue. You can also use a sheet of newsprint to cover but the paper towel gives a smother look. Tape to secure to the ball of paper.
  3. Cut a the bottom of a coffee cup (small hands might need help) to create a cupcake cup approx 2" tall. You can also make a cup sleeve with paper board ie: a pop case cardboard. We started with this (seen in pic) but found the cups were much easier and made for a more secure cake.
  4. Paint, decorate cupcake tops. Get creative by adding a variety of materials such as fabric scraps, yarn, magazine and packaging clippings. Let dry.
  5. Paint cupcake bottom. Let dry.
  6. Assemble cupcake by tucking any paper towel edges into the cup. Glue to secure. Let dry.
Voila. Gluten-free, unlimited shelf-life and 100% sweet fun.
